As part of the transformation of the Surfers Paradise Transit Centre into a vibrant village hub, The 4217 with curation from the team at The Hours commissioned artist Marty Routledge to work on two large-scale hand painted font murals on The 4217 building over the Easter weekend.
Marty Routledge is an artist based in Sydney. His artwork has grown from his love of both graffiti and old hand painted signage. Marty successfully blends these two art worlds together, creating large aerosol murals around the world exploring many different words, phrases and typefaces.
Each word on Marty’s murals represents the offerings that The 4217 will house, including a coffee house with onsite coffee roasting, authentic Italian gelataria and bakery, a chocolatier, a boutique micro-brewery beer bar, fresh food delicatessen plus a mix of restaurants.
Thank you so much to Marty Routledge for making our building look great and to The Hours for their hard work on the project and the local Surfers Paradise guys at Digital Cinematix for capturing video of the mural being painted and putting together this video.
